Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is a critical and commercial hit, selling over 4.5 million copies and becoming one of the most-played Warhammer games on Steam. So it's no surprise that Games Workshop, the custodians of the Warhammer IP, decided to let Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have another go at it.
The companies have officially announced Space Marine 3, and Saber Interactive will lead development in collaboration with Focus Entertainment. Not much is known about the project yet, with "Specific details on gameplay, setting, and factions tightly under wraps" for now.
Saber Interactive said that Space Marine 2 "has proven to be a transformative game" for the studio, and they view it as an "opportunity to create a true love letter to the Warhammer 40.000 universe."
The studio said they will still "continue to support and grow the Space Marine 2 universe over the coming years."
The game "is likely years away from release." So, until then, Saber is working hard on Space Marine 2 to "deliver a jaw dropping lineup of new missions, additional upgrades and more enemies to introduce to the business-end of your bolt rifle."
Speaking of which, Space Marine 2 is on sale right now. You can grab the Gold Edition on Steam, which includes the season pass, for 35% off. Space Marine 2 is currently the most-played Warhammer game on Steam.
