Virtual cleaners were pleasantly surprised by today's PowerWash Simulator 2 announcement. FuturLab confirmed a 2025 release for the PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles. To the disappointment of Nintendo gamers, there was no mention of the Switch.
Eurogamer initially reported that PowerWash Simulator 2 would scrub its way onto Switch 2 instead. FuturLab later clarified that a release on the console isn't official. Still, several signs point to an inevitable Switch 2 version.
It's understandable why FuturLab wouldn't want to reveal a version for the upcoming handheld. The next Nintendo Direct isn't until April 2nd when gamers hope for pricing details and a Switch 2 release date. FuturLab promised more PowerWash Simulator 2 updates in April, which could follow the Nintendo event. The company also posted an FAQ that said it would look forward to releasing a Switch 2 title.
Players were not provided a specific PowerWash Simulator 2 release window for any platform. Switch 2 leaks have suggested that Nintendo has already shipped nearly 400,000 units of the console to the United States. With a finalized system ready, that would justify summer Switch 2 release date theories. PowerWash Simulator 2 won't arrive until late in 2025, so Nintendo gamers may be in for a wait.
The original PowerWash Simulator received a good but not great critical reception. Still, players responded enthusiastically to the game, which is one of the highest-rated Steam titles. The gameplay is surprisingly deep, with a wacky storyline that enfolds as players move on to more challenging projects.
For PowerWash Simulator 2, FuturLab plans to add a new single-player campaign with diverse locations to clean. Gamers will also have a home base to recharge and decorate. The first simulator offered cross-play between some systems but not cross-progression. Considering the game's addictiveness, the Switch 2 could allow careers to progress, even when mobile.
