With just a few weeks to go before the Nintendo Direct for the Switch 2, more details of Nintendo's new handheld console have surfaced, thanks to an FCC listing. The documents filed at the US agency have revealed key specifications regarding connectivity such as Wi-Fi, NFC, and USB-C.
According to the FCC documents, the Nintendo Switch 2 has the model number BEE-01
while the left and right Joy-Con have model numbers BEE-012
and BEE-014
respectively. It also revealed that the handheld console will support charging from either of the two USB-C ports. The hardware reveal video showed the Switch 2 has a USB-C port each on the top and bottom just like the Lenovo Legion Go (curr. available on Amazon for $698.85).
In addition, the Nintendo Switch 2 will have NFC, with the RFID located in the right Joy-Con. This means the device will work with Amiibo. The Nintendo Switch 2 will also be getting a Wi-Fi chip upgrade, unfortunately, it isn't the faster Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7, but Wi-Fi 6.
Other details revealed by the FCC documents include support for the same Game Card used by the Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch Lite; 15V max. charging input, and a 20V AC adapter. The amperage isn't known, so it is impossible to state if the Nintendo Switch 2 charges faster than its predecessor.
