Retroid has revealed more specifications about the Pocket Classic, having shared initial details about the device's display last week. To recap, the company previously confirmed that the Pocket Classic will launch with a 3.92-inch display that outputs at 1,240 x 1,080 pixels with an effective 5:4 aspect ratio (1.15:1) and 500 nits peak brightness.
Retroid will complement this AMOLED display with a 5,000 mAh battery and a 'Qualcomm 4 nm' chipset. Although this description applies to many recent Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets, it excludes the Snapdragon 865 that will underpin the Retroid Pocket Flip 2. For example, Retroid may have chosen any Snapdragon 7 or Snapdragon 8 chipsets introduced in the last three years, possibly even the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3.
The Retroid Pocket Classic will also feature 4 GB of LPDDR4x RAM clocked at 2,133 MT/s, as well as 64 GB of eMMC 5.1 flash storage and an active cooling solution. Retroid has confirmed that the Pocket Classic comes in at 138 x 89.8 x 26 mm and 223 g, which makes it about the same size as the Anbernic RG40XX V (curr. $79.99 on Amazon). Retroid's next vertical gaming handheld will support Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 5 connectivity though, unlike the RG40XX V, plus Android 14 as its pre-installed operating system.
