Retroid has not released the Pocket Flip 2 yet. Instead, the company has now pivoted its teasers to the Pocket Classic, which it first teased alongside the Pocket Flip 2 almost a month ago. Just yesterday, the company showcased the Pocket Classic from the front in several colours.
The company has now clarified the Pocket Flip will be sold with the following colour names:
- Atomic Purple
- Berry
- Classic 6
- Kiwi
- PKM Yellow
- Retro
- Teal
All variants listed above will ship with two sets of shoulder buttons arranged much like recent Anbernic vertical gaming handhelds, including the RG40XX V (curr. $79.99 on Amazon). However, Retroid has revealed that the Classic 6 will swap out ABXY buttons for a special six-button layout. The eagle-eyed among you will recognise this layout from the Sega Saturn Controller, which turns 30 years old in Europe and North America this year.
The Pocket Classic also has a subtly curved back, which should improve ergonomics. While what appears to be a battery door is visible, it seems that this is only cosmetic. It remains to be seen when Retroid will release the Pocket Classic or Pocket Flip 2. Past performance suggests that pre-orders will open simultaneously for both devices, though.
