Samsung has released plenty of devices lately, including its new Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra (curr. $1,219.99 on Amazon) flagships. Arguably, the company's product line has become rather staid in recent years, although that could soon change with the release of its first tri-fold.
By contrast, subsidiary Samsung Display continues to push ahead with cutting-edge form factors, many of which it has brought to Barcelona this week at MWC 2025. For example, the company has now publicly showcased its foldable gaming handheld, just over three months after its design received approval in the US from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
In short, the patent published in November matches the design of what Samsung Display now calls the Flex Gaming. Incidentally, the display manufacturer used the same name for a prior concept that bore a completely different design. Regardless, there have been rumours that the ethos of the Flex Gaming could eventually make it into a retail device.
So far, Samsung Display has revealed that the Flex Gaming has a 7.2-inch foldable display. The concept is also being exhibited running inZOI, a life simulation game that will be released on Windows later this month. By implication, the Flex Gaming appears to be a PC-level handheld, for which Samsung and Valve are rumoured to be collaborating on SteamOS support for ARM chipsets. Unfortunately, other details are unknown for now.
