A new Kickstarter campaign has gone live introducing a smart pen that uses AI features to assist the user in real-time. Dubbed the One Smart AI Pen, it is the world’s first writing tool that is enhanced by ChatGPT integration, real-time translation, and voice control. The smart pen has a few different operation modes and a bunch of smart features, accompanied by a sleek steel and plastic construction.
Developed by Zakwan Ahmad and his team, the One Smart AI Pen looks like a stylish yet unassuming ball point pen from the outside. But on the inside, it carries an AI assistant chip, a Bluetooth chip, a battery, noise canceling microphone, space for a microSD card, and more, while still allowing for a replaceable refill. Since there is no display, it uses Bluetooth 5.2 to connect with a phone and can last up to 30 hours with a one-hour charge time. The smart pen weighs 30 grams and has a multi-functional button on top.
The ChatGPT integration allows it to do most of what the AI assistant can do which is offer instant writing suggestions, generate ideas, or draft emails. It can translate in real-time across more than 52 languages, take dictations, summarize meetings, transcribe handwritten notes, set reminders, and make to-do lists. The mic, along with the microSD card allow the smart pen to record meetings and then transcribe them.
The campaign goal is $10,000 and there are 39 backers already who have pledged a total of $2,581 with 56 days to go. Those who pledge to certain tiers can expect deliveries by November 2025. If the One Smart AI Pen gets successfully funded and actually ships as a real product, it could be quite useful in a lot of industries, just by virtue of some of its most useful features like translations and transcriptions.
