OpenAI has just introduced a new feature that may well hurt the competition, announcing the integration of ChatGPT with Google Drive. This feature enables AI to access your files stored in the cloud, with the aim of providing more tailored and accurate responses.
In fact, this software can connect not only to Google Drive, but also to SharePoint, Dropbox, Box and OneDrive. In other words, you can ask ChatGPT to summarize a document, whether textual or visual, or extract data from an Excel report. In doing so, the AI will perform an analysis and present you with the important information without you having to search for it.
However, OpenAI wanted to emphasize an important point. Only people authorized by the organization have access to documents, thus respecting corporate hierarchies and preserving all data.
By implementing this functionality, ChatGPT can become your best assistant at work, not forgetting that this software already features tools for recording and transcribing audio conversations. This can be a very useful time-saver.
It should also be noted that this AI is capable of writing customized reports based on the target audience. And these innovations place it in direct competition with Google Gemini or Microsoft 365, who already have these tools in their office programs.
But that's not all, as ChatGPT is enjoying exponential success with businesses, with 3 million paying users for the Enterprise, Team and Education offers, up from 2 million in February 2025. Not to mention other options, such as ChatGPT Team, which meet a variety of needs and target certain organizations that don't meet the minimum number of users required for the Enterprise offering.
With these new features, OpenAI is seeking to establish itself as a professional tool on a number of levels. Its place in this environment is consolidating over time, and it could overtake its competitors in the near future.
