The vast majority of drones use a quadcopter design, meaning that they have four individual rotors. These four rotors control the direction of the drone instead of additional rudders. The new HaoHan FireFly is built differently, as it is basically a miniature airplane with tilt rotors.
This allows it to start and land vertically like a quadcopter, but the rotors can be tilted forward after takeoff. According to the manufacturer, this results in lower power consumption during flight. With the optional larger battery, the drone can supposedly cover 56 miles on a full charge when staying below the top speed of roughly 35 miles per hour.
Rather unsurprisingly, the drone is quite heavy and weighs 3.3 to 4 lbs depending on the configuration, which means that HaoHan is aiming at professional customers here. In optimal conditions, the included remote has a range of up to 9.3 miles.
The HaoHan FireFly doesn't have built-in cameras like those found on DJI drones. Instead, it has a mount for action cameras, while various other camera modules can be installed in the front. However, these cameras are currently unavailable. Dimensions are listed as 42.5 x 27.2 x 14.8 inches, and the drone can be disassembled in order to fit into a box that measures roughly 23 x 18 x 10 inches.
