The brand Fimi is probably no stranger to drone enthusiasts. Now, the company is launching the new X8T, which has a rather special feature. Instead of just one camera installed on a gimbal, the drone is equipped with three different cameras right of out of the box. It comes with a wide-angle camera with a 1/2-inch Sony sensor with a 48MP resolution.
With a focal length of 120 instead of 24 millimeters, the 13-megapixel telephoto camera can be used for zooming in. The built-in thermal vision camera has 640 x 480 pixels and could be well suited for detecting hotspots, thermal bridges, or for tracking game during hunting. A picture-in-picture feature can display the images of the drone’s various sensors side by side.
The Fimi X8T weighs at least 373 grams (0.82 lbs), so it no longer falls into the sub-250g category. Depending on the battery configuration, it has a flight time of 38 or 47 minutes per charge. Furthermore, the X8T can withstand winds with up to 27 miles per hour. It can also reach a speed of 27 mph and climb at 11 mph.
The drone transmits videos via RokLink 5.0, which has a range of up to 12.4 miles and a latency of 120 milliseconds. The drone doesn’t have to be controlled manually as GNSS allows it to follow predetermined routes.
Last but not least, the manufacturer advertises the possibility of installing a 4G module, but potential buyers should check the local regulations before doing so. The drone can be controlled via an according smartphone app, but Fimi has not provided any pricing or a release date for the X8T just yet.
