The new SG909 drone comes with obstacle avoidance and a 4K camera. The DJI alternative can also wireless transmit video to the remote, so users are not flying blind.
The ZLL SG909 is a new drone that is intended for regular users, at least in terms of price. The drone is available on Aliexpress for prices starting around $205, but prices for a set with three batteries, spare parts and the touch screen remote can go up to $352. In any case, the drone supposedly has a decent range and feature set.
As is typical with most drones these days, the camera is placed on a gimbal for stabilization and supports a resolution of up to 3840 x 2160 pixels. However, 4K videos are only recorded at 20 frames per second. The remote control can stream video with 1280 x 720 pixels, which is displayed on a 5.5-inch screen. ZLL claims that video transmission works at a range of up to 3.7 miles.
According to the manufacturer, obstacle avoidance is available optionally. This feature should prevent the drone from colliding with and getting damaged by walls or trees, for example. The SG909 further supports GPS navigation, which means that it can automatically follow users.
In addition, the drone can circle around an object or building and thereby take videos or photos from different angles. Last but not least, the ZLL SG909 has a flight time of up to 45 minutes, but the drone weighs 1.65lbs (750 grams), which means that it clearly exceeds the 250-gram threshold that is legally relevant in many regions.

I have been active as a journalist for over 10 years, most of it in the field of technology. I worked for Tom’s Hardware and ComputerBase, among others, and have been working for Notebookcheck since 2017. My current focus is particularly on mini PCs and single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi – so in other words, compact systems with a lot of potential. In addition, I have a soft spot for all kinds of wearables, especially smartwatches. My main profession is as a laboratory engineer, which is why neither scientific contexts nor the interpretation of complex measurements are foreign to me.

My fascination for technology goes back a long way to the Pentium II era. Modding, overclocking and treasuring computer hardware has since become an integral part of my life. As a student, I further developed a keen interest in mobile technologies that can make the stressful college life so much easier. After I fell in love with the creation of digital content while working in a marketing position, I now scour the web to bring you the most exciting topics in the world of tech. Outside the office, I’m particularly passionate about motorsports and mountain biking.
