We've recently reported on the new Potensic Atom 2, which is a new DJI alternative that has now become available on Amazon as well. Specifically, the drone starts at $329 for the so-called "Standard Kit", while the "Fly More Combo" costs around $449. This bundle includes two additional batteries and additional spare rotors. This offer is sold by the manufacturer itself, but shipping is handled by Amazon.
The Potensic Atom 2 might be a viable alternative to comparable drones from market leader DJI. It weighs less than 250 grams, which is the legal threshold in some countries and regions. Furthermore, it is equipped with a 1/2-inch Sony sensor that captures 48-megapixel photos, while 4K video can be recorded at up to 30 frames per second. However, slow-motion shots are only taken in Full-HD resolution.
The Potensic Atom 2 measures approximately 3.5 x 5.6 x 2.3 inches when folded, and it comes with a GNSS module that supports GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou. Therefore, the drone doesn’t have to be controlled manually but can also fly predefined routes by itself. Alternatively, the drone can follow users automatically, which can be quite useful during certain activities. Under perfect conditions, the Atom 2 has a wireless range of up to 6.2 miles. A remote control with a smartphone mount is included in the box, and it offers two additional customizable buttons.
