Nintendo announced the Switch 2 just under two months ago, although it hardly revealed anything about the console in the process. The company has not discussed the console since, either. Instead, it is expected to provide further details at its next Nintendo Direct, which it has scheduled for April 2.
According to Takashi Mochizuki, writing on Bloomberg, various analysts still believe that the Switch 2 will represent Nintendo's biggest launch yet. In response, the company is said to be preparing stockpiles of anywhere up to eight million units, which would surpass initial sales of the Switch and PlayStation 5 (curr. $499 on Amazon) combined. For reference, while sales of these consoles reached 2.7 million and 4.5 million, respectively, they were likely depressed by early stock shortages.
Analysts are said to be less sure of Switch 2 launch pricing, though. For example, some believe that Nintendo could deliver its new console for $399, which would be in line with past rumours. Alternatively, Mochizuki references others who are leaning closer to $449 or as high as $499 on account of Nvidia charging Nintendo between $130 and $150 for each Tegra SoC. As a result, the Bloomberg editor concludes that the Switch 2 could 'cost $400 or more' with emphasis on the console breaking through that $400 ceiling.
