Despite numerous delays and stumbles, Assassin's Creed Shadows is all set to launch on March 20. Its PC system requirements confirmed a surprisingly low barrier to entry, effectively allowing you to play it at 1080p 30 FPS with an 8th-gen Intel CPU and a GeForce GTX 1070. Now, Steam Deck owners will be pleased to know they can enjoy the latest Ubisoft hit on their consoles.
The official Assassin's Creed X handle confirmed that the game will officially be supported on the Steam Deck and that they are "awaiting the level of classification from Valve". It goes without saying that Assassin's Creed Shadows will have to sacrifice some visual fidelity in the process and rely on AI-powered upscalers like AMD FSR.
Then again, the Steam Deck's somewhat anaemic hardware won't be the actual barrier to entry. The final boss has always been Ubisoft's invasive app, which, at the time of writing, needs some tweaking to work on the Steam Deck. Official Steam Deck support implies integration with the Ubisoft App won't be mandatory, something that would be universally welcomed.
