The Epic Games Store is now giving away Mortal Shell, a $30 action RPG game available to pick up for free until next week. The storefront has also quietly thrown in a free DLC soundtrack too that adds a heavy metal flavour to the Dead Soulds-inspired title.

Earlier today, the Epic Games Store switched up its free game giveaway on PC. To recap, the storefront had been offering Them's Fightin' Herds for free, having discounted Mages of Mystralia a week earlier. This time, it has switched to Mortal Shell, which arrive almost five years ago to mixed reviews.

Clearly influenced by Dead Souls, Mortal Shell adopts mechanics like possessing characters and a unique take shield usage. Nonetheless, the game was criticised for its level design and obvious Dead Souls influence. While this week's giveaway only applies for its PC release, Mortal Shell is also available on Amazon Luna, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch (curr. $295 - used on Amazon).

Initially, it seemed that Epic Games would complement its Mortal Shell giveaway with a World of Warships bundle. However, it has quietly snuck in Mortal Shell downloadable content (DLC) too, which may go overlooked when redeeming the game itself. Specifically, Epic Games is also offering the Rotting Christ Pack, which gives the game an alternative official soundtrack (OST).

Is is worth stressing that this is free DLC, unlike The Virtuous Cycle that adds a Roguelike Mode and in-game items. Nonetheless, the Rotting Christ Pack is well-received by Mortal Shell fans. Please see the video below for what the Rotting Christ Pack sounds like during one of Mortal Shell's many boss fights.
