Verdict - Asus sets new standards in the field of compact gaming PCs with the ROG NUC 15
The Asus ROG NUC 15 impressively demonstrates how much gaming power can be packed into a tiny case. In just 2.5 liters, Asus combines modern high-end hardware with efficient cooling and an attractive design. The Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX works together with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU inside the visually enhanced ROG NUC 15 - a combination that masters even demanding games in Full HD and often also in QHD smoothly. Current technologies such as DLSS 4 and Frame Generation are also supported and ensure significantly higher frame rates and a smoother gaming experience. The ROG NUC 15 impresses with an excellently coordinated overall package, which offers many external interfaces as well as user-friendly options such as adjustable performance profiles at the click of a button.
The comparatively high energy requirement, which is common to all load scenarios, is worthy of criticism. The price of 2,500 euros is another point that cannot be dismissed out of hand. However, Asus does not yet have any serious competition. The Asus ROG NUC 15 is an impressively compact high-end gaming PC with strong performance, efficient cooling and first-class workmanship - a real powerhouse in mini format.

Mini PCs are usually known for office or multimedia tasks. However, Asus shows with the ROG NUC 15 that compact systems can also offer real gaming performance. Equipped with a dedicated graphics card and powerful CPU, the mini PC is clearly aimed at gamers - typical of the ROG series, which stands for high-end hardware at Asus. In this review, we take a look at the top model with Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 laptop, which is available for $3,199.
Specifications
Case & Connectivity
The Asus ROG NUC 15 combines a compact design with powerful cooling and solid workmanship. Although the case is slightly larger, the ROG NUC 15 remains space-saving and flexible. It can be set up vertically, which also improves air circulation. The chassis combines plastic on the outside with sturdy metal on the inside, while the illuminated ROG logo with Aura Sync provides accents. At around 3.0 kg, the mini PC is one of the heavier models, but still offers a successful balance of performance, design and practicality.
The Asus ROG NUC 15 impresses with its versatile connectivity and provides everything you need. Six USB-A ports (two at the front, four at the back) and two USB-C ports - one with Thunderbolt 4 at the back - offer extensive connection options. HDMI, DisplayPort and Thunderbolt enable flexible multi-monitor setups, while the well-thought-out arrangement of the ports makes handling easier.

Accessories
The ASUS ROG NUC only comes with the device itself with a mounted stand and a large 330-watt power supply unit.
Maintenance
Maintenance work on the Asus ROG NUC 15 is possible without any problems. Asus dispenses with complicated screw connections so that the RAM and SSD are easy to access. After removing the side panel, there is space for up to two M.2 SSDs. The WLAN module can also be replaced if required.
Sustainability
The Asus ROG NUC 15 is delivered in a large, well-padded cardboard box that protects the device securely. Detailed information on recycled materials is not available. The 36-month manufacturer's warranty is a positive highlight.
Performance
The top model of the Asus ROG NUC 15 combines the Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU to deliver powerful performance, even for QHD gaming.
Test conditions
We used the "Performance" energy profile for all performance tests with this device. The extensively designed UEFI offers plenty of scope for customizing the device. Various performance profiles and fan profiles can be selected. The performance can also be easily adjusted in the Windows operating system using the well-known Armoury Crate tool.
Processor
The Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX is one of the best processors Intel currently offers in the mobile sector. This is also impressively demonstrated in our CPU benchmarks, in which the Asus ROG NUC 15 performs excellently. Both the single-core performance and the multi-core performance are perfect and do not reveal any weak points. Even the brand new and also extremely powerful AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 (in the Bosgame M5) can often be beaten.

System performance
The Asus ROG NUC 15 delivers consistently strong system performance. Although it is slightly behind the Minisforum AtomMan G7 PT in some benchmarks, it scores with excellent results in the RAM tests. Our test sample is only beaten by the Bosgame M5 with AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 base.

The Asus ROG NUC 15 is equipped with a 2 TB M.2 SSD from Micron, which operates at full PCIe 4.0x4 speed. The performance is sufficient to secure a good place in the midfield. In addition, the performance remains constant and without dips even under load. A total of two M.2 2280 SSDs can be installed in the device.

Graphics card and gaming performance
With the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU including 16 GB VRAM, the Asus ROG NUC 15 sets new standards in its size class. In a performance comparison, it is clearly at the top and offers gaming performance at the highest level. Although the comparison with the desktop version of the RTX 5080 is not as accurate, it shows impressively how close the mini PC comes to high-end systems. It is followed at a considerable distance by the Minisforum AtomMan G7 Ti with RTX 4070 laptop GPU.

Emissions
System noise
The Asus ROG NUC 15 has a powerful cooling system that cools the CPU and GPU efficiently and comparatively quietly. When idling, the mini PC operates barely audibly at around 30 dB(A), although it can reach up to 45 dB(A) under load. When gaming, the noise level is sometimes at the same level as in the stress test.

Temperature
The case temperatures in the Asus ROG NUC 15 remain uncritical throughout. Some areas heat up more. However, extreme values do not occur. The Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX only briefly reaches 80 °C and thus remains pleasantly cool. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU operates at an average of 77 °C with a normal power consumption of 120 watts.
(±) The maximum temperature on the upper side is 41.6 °C / 107 F, compared to the average of 36 °C / 97 F, ranging from 21.6 to 69.5 °C for the class Mini PC.
(+) The bottom heats up to a maximum of 39.2 °C / 103 F, compared to the average of 36.6 °C / 98 F
(±) In idle usage, the average temperature for the upper side is 34.6 °C / 94 F, compared to the device average of 32.5 °C / 91 F.

Energy management
The Asus ROG NUC 15 impresses with good energy efficiency, but does not reach the level of the Bosgame M5. Nevertheless, the ROG NUC 15 is not one of the most economical devices. Unfortunately, this is already evident in idle mode with values between 30 and 44 watts. Under load, the power requirement briefly rises to up to 347 watts, although we measured around 300 watts during gaming. The supplied 330 watt power supply unit is therefore sufficiently dimensioned.
