Verdict - Powerful mini PC with USB4 for work and everyday use
The Alliwava GH8 presents itself in our review as a powerful and solidly built mini PC that is clearly aimed at users with higher performance requirements. The AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS provides more than enough reserves for demanding productive tasks, multitasking, and occasional gaming, while the system works efficiently overall. The compact housing with aluminum content gives a high-quality impression, while the equipment is sensibly tailored to typical desktop applications. Although the variety of connections is not exceptionally extensive, the integrated USB4 port is a clear added value and makes the system stand out positively.
In terms of price, however, the Alliwava GH8 is in the upper segment and therefore not a cheap solution. Ultimately, the Alliwava GH8 will appeal primarily to users who specifically value high CPU performance in a compact and high-quality overall package. Anyone who needs these performance reserves and is satisfied with the connectivity offered will receive a convincing mini PC. However, price-conscious buyers will find interesting alternatives in the current market environment - such as the Minisforum AI X1 -which offer a more attractive price-performance ratio.
Pros
Cons
Price and availability
The Alliwava GH8 can be ordered in the configuration we reviewed directly from the manufacturer for $894.
With the Alliwava GH8, the manufacturer is expanding its portfolio with a powerful mini PC that relies on modern high-end hardware despite its compact dimensions. Inside, the AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS is based on the Zen 4 architecture, which has 8 cores and 16 threads and is aimed at users. In the configuration reviewed here, the system has 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD at its disposal, creating a solid basis for balanced performance development.
Specifications
Case & Connectivity
The Alliwava GH8 is housed in a sturdy aluminum casing and stands out with its compact dimensions and a weight of around 500 grams. While the body of the housing is made of metal, plastic elements are used on the lid and underside, which only slightly detracts from the overall high-quality and robust impression. The connectivity is practically distributed across the front and rear and reliably covers typical office and home requirements. The USB4 interface, which also supports the use of external graphics cards, deserves special mention. The solid basic equipment also includes two 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet ports and WLAN, which means that the Alliwava GH8 is also well positioned in terms of connectivity.

Accessories
Maintenance
The Alliwava GH8 is delivered from the factory with RAM and an SSD installed and is therefore ready for immediate use. The housing can be easily opened for subsequent upgrades, with RAM, mass storage and the WLAN module being easily accessible and replaceable.
Support and warranty
Alliwava has responded to previous criticism and significantly improved the support area. The revised support page enables the direct download of driver packages without the need to register with external cloud services. In addition, the manufacturer offers a 24-month warranty when purchasing the Alliwava GH8. Overall, support is now much clearer and more customer-friendly, making it easier to set up and maintain the mini PC.
Test conditions
All measurements were carried out with the Alliwava GH8 in its delivery state. Although the performance mode available in the BIOS can increase performance by increasing the fan speed, it leads to a noticeable increase in noise under load.
Processor
The Alliwava GH8 with AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS (Zen 4, 8 cores and 16 threads) offers high computing power overall and is positioned in the powerful mid-range of current mini PCs. The SoC can achieve a short-term power consumption of up to around 65 watts, but stabilizes at around 55 watts under sustained load. In a direct comparison, however, our test sample loses out to the Geekom A8, which is equipped with a supposedly weaker AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS.

Cinebench R15 Multi Loop
The Cinebench R15 endurance test proves that the Alliwava GH8 has a well-tuned cooling system overall. Although a slight decline in performance cannot be completely avoided under sustained load, it is moderate. The AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS briefly reaches a power consumption of up to around 40 watts, while the maximum temperature is just under 84 C.
System performance
The configuration of the Alliwava GH8 ensures an overall solid performance, placing the test device in the midfield in comparison. The measurement results are consistent with the impressions from the practical test, in which neither anomalies nor annoying delays occurred.

Storage devices
The Alliwava GH8 comes with a 1 TB SSD, the manufacturer of which is not specified. Thanks to the connection via PCIe 3.0 x4, it is not one of the fastest models and ranks in the lower end of the comparison field in terms of performance. However, the performance is sufficient for everyday tasks and the SSD also works stably under continuous load.

GPU and gaming performance
The Alliwava GH8 uses the integrated AMD Radeon 780M, which is also used in numerous other current mini PCs and therefore delivers a similar graphics performance. Differences in performance mainly result from the respective power consumption, the cooling design, and the RAM configuration. Accordingly, our test device is once again positioned in the midfield of the comparison.

Temperature
The casing of the Alliwava GH8 does not show any extreme abnormalities either in idle mode or under sustained load. In the stress test, the installed AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS briefly reaches temperatures of around 85 C and is therefore clearly in the uncritical range. A permanently applied TDP of 40 watts can be reliably dissipated by the cooling system, although the temperature of the SoC levels off at around 81 C.
(+) The maximum temperature on the upper side is 38.4 °C / 101 F, compared to the average of 35.9 °C / 97 F, ranging from 21.4 to 69.5 °C for the class Mini PC.
(-) The bottom heats up to a maximum of 46.5 °C / 116 F, compared to the average of 36.3 °C / 97 F
(+) In idle usage, the average temperature for the upper side is 28.6 °C / 83 F, compared to the device average of 32.4 °C / 90 F.
(+) 3: The average temperature for the upper side is 31.3 °C / 88 F, compared to the average of 32.4 °C / 90 F for the class Mini PC.
Energy management
In our review, the Alliwava GH8 proves to be a comparatively energy-efficient mini PC. In idle mode, the power consumption is 6.5 to 10.7 watts, while around 60 watts are measured under typical load. Short-term load peaks of around 82 watts are no problem for the 120-watt power supply unit.
