Behind the abbreviation GH8, Alliwava markets its current top model of its mini PCs. The system is based on the AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS and combines this with fast DDR5 RAM and a PCIe SSD. The mini PC is therefore not only aimed at classic office users but also at users with higher computing power and multitasking requirements. In our recent recview, the GH8 impresses with its overall high performance and excellent efficiency, which in parts is even above the level of the comparison devices used.
Despite the powerful hardware, the Mini-PC only found itself in the midfield in many individual tests. Many other mini PC manufacturers allow the SoC a higher TDP, which sometimes requires the cooling unit to be adapted. The advantage of the Alliwava GH8 is therefore the low energy requirement under load and a small cooling system that can reliably dissipate the permanently applied power without any noticeable loss of performance.
In terms of design, Alliwava has opted for a compact aluminum housing that makes a solid and high-quality impression. The connectivity is practical and offers additional flexibility with USB4, for example, for almost all modern external drives or display solutions. Two 2.5 Gigabit LAN ports and the latest WLAN ensure a modern network connection.
In terms of price, the Alliwava GH8 is at the upper end of the mini PC market. In return, buyers receive a balanced overall package of sufficient CPU and iGPU performance, modern features, and efficient operation. Anyone looking for a powerful desktop replacement in a compact format will find the GH8 an interesting option but must be prepared to dig a little deeper into their pockets. A serious alternative is the Minisforum AI X1-255 which is currently available in the Barebone version for around $327 on Amazon.
