Verdict - Compact, versatile powerhouse with Intel Core Ultra 9 285H
The GMK EVO-T1 proves to be a powerful and efficient mini PC with a modern Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU. Thanks to the option of operating the Intel Core Ultra 9 285H with up to 80 watts, it outperforms the Geekom Mini IT15 with the same processor. The slightly larger design offers space for powerful cooling. The upper fan offers RGB lighting, which is hardly noticeable in practice.
In terms of connectivity, the EVO-T1 offers everything you need, including USB4 and OCuLink. A more modern Wi-Fi module would be good and would not represent a disadvantage in comparison with its competitors. At least this can be replaced by the user, as the mini PC is easy to maintain and can be equipped with up to three mass storage devices.
Thanks to the option of raising the processor's power limit to up to 80 watts, a considerable amount of power can be extracted from the compact SoC. However, this is inevitably accompanied by a clearly perceptible background noise. Although the fan speeds can be regulated manually, the implementation is not very user-friendly. In addition, the adjustment is only possible in rough 20 percent increments. If GMK were to offer finer gradations and more flexibility here, the manufacturer could clearly set itself apart from the competition in this area.
Pros
Cons
Price and availability
The GMKtec EVO-T1 is now available in the official online store. The test version with 64 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD costs $999 USD; the one with 2 TB SSD is available for $1,079 USD. The top model (64 GB RAM + 1 TB SSD) is available on Amazon for $1,299 USD.
The EVO-T1 is a powerful mini PC of the latest generation from GMKtec with a modern design, effective cooling and the latest interfaces. It is equipped with the Intel Core Ultra 9 285H64 GB DDR5 RAM and 1 TB SSD.
Alternatives to the EVO-T1 include similarly powerful mini PCs such as the Minisforum AI X1 Pro, Geekom Mini IT15 or the Geekom A8 Max in question.
Specifications
Case, connectivity and features
The GMK EVO-T1 is an eye-catcher with its gold and black combination. The gold-colored metal cover ensures a high-quality feel, even if the plastic housing does not quite match the metal chassis of the competition. There were no processing defects in the test.
The EVO-T1 offers versatile connectivity with several USB ports, two 2.5 Gbit Ethernet ports, USB4, and a dedicated OCuLink port that does not occupy any of the three M.2 slots - not a matter of course in this device class. A more up-to-date Wi-Fi module would be desirable, as the built-in Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX201 does not support the 6 GHz band (Wi-Fi 6E).

Accessories
The scope of delivery is standard. A VESA mount with accessories and the compact 150-watt power supply unit are included in the box. An AI instance (GMK AI Assistant) is also pre-installed on the mini PC, which makes it possible to run local AI instances.
Maintenance
The GMK EVO-T1 is easy to open. Once the metal cover has been removed, four screws must be unscrewed to remove the plastic cover and fan. The EVO-T1 still has space for two additional mass storage devices in M.2-2280 format. The RAM and WLAN module can also be replaced.
Sustainability
GMK does not provide any information on sustainability measures in the manufacturing process. The packaging consists mainly of cardboard, supplemented by a few foam elements to protect the device.
Performance
Equipped with the Intel Core Ultra 9 285H which can be operated with up to 80 watts, the EVO-T1 offers plenty of power. In addition to the Intel Arc Graphics 140T iGPU, the NPU also benefits from this.
Test conditions
In contrast to the factory settings, the EVO-T1 was tested in performance mode in order to achieve the best possible performance. In factory settings, the system operates with a more conservative power limit of 54 watts, which means the mini PC is significantly quieter.
Processor
The GMK EVO-T1 is equipped with the Intel Core Ultra 9 285H. In performance mode, the SoC can develop almost its full power and operate continuously at 70 watts. The SoC even has 80 watts available for a short time, which is achieved. Compared to the Geekom Mini IT15, our test sample therefore has an easy game, as Geekom defines the power limit for continuous load operation at 33 watts. However, the EVO-T1 does not reach the performance of an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370.

Mass storage
A Crucial P3 Plus with 1 TB of storage space is installed in the EVO-T1. In the test, the SSD delivers excellent performance, but remains slightly behind the Crucial P3 Plus with 2 TB in the Geekom Mini IT15 is lagging behind. The SSD is a mass storage device with QLC memory cells without a separate DRAM cache. There is no loss of performance in the stress test due to the good cooling. The EVO-T1 offers space for a total of three M.2 SSDs.

Graphics card and gaming performance
The EVO-T1 uses the Intel Arc Graphics 140T, which delivers excellent results in benchmarks. The processor's high power limit ensures a noticeable difference in performance compared to the Geekom Mini IT15. In professional applications, however, it lags behind the iGPUs from AMD. Casual games are possible, but sometimes require a reduction in the detail level.

Temperature
The casing surfaces remain inconspicuous in idle mode and under load. The processor itself reaches 90 °C and works stably with the intended 70 watts under load. If the fan speed is reduced to 20 percent, the cooling unit is able to dissipate around 40 watts under load. Temperatures of 100 °C are reached, but are not a problem for the Intel Core Ultra 9 285H.
(+) The maximum temperature on the upper side is 36.4 °C / 98 F, compared to the average of 36 °C / 97 F, ranging from 21.6 to 69.5 °C for the class Mini PC.
(-) The bottom heats up to a maximum of 48.5 °C / 119 F, compared to the average of 36.5 °C / 98 F
(+) In idle usage, the average temperature for the upper side is 28.8 °C / 84 F, compared to the device average of 32.4 °C / 90 F.
(±) 3: The average temperature for the upper side is 32.2 °C / 90 F, compared to the average of 32.4 °C / 90 F for the class Mini PC.
