Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti with Intel Core Ultra 9 185H in review: AI mini-PC with touch display, camera and OCuLink

The Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti combines an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H with 32 GB DDR5 RAM and a 1 TB SSD in a stylish case. Speaking of the case, Minisforum is taking a new approach here and equipping the AtomMan X7 Ti with a 4-inch touchscreen, which is used to display the most important system parameters. There is also a camera and plenty of connection options for peripheral devices. With this overall concept, the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti is a serious contender and in practice is suitable for significantly more applications than the competition. The mini-PC from the Far East costs 959 euros in the version we tested, and there will also be a barebone option. The manufacturer is currently charging 759 euros for this.
We will now take a closer look at how well the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti performs against its competitors in terms of performance. We have compiled an overview of the comparison devices in the following table.

Case - Metal housing and a 4-inch touch display
At first glance, the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti reminds us of the Minisforum EliteMini UM780 XTX. On closer inspection, however, there are clear differences, and the dimensions alone indicate that a completely different case serves as the basis. The Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti is larger and its dimensions are comparable to the Acemagic F2A. However, the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti takes up considerably less space on the desk due to the vertical or slightly angled mount. There is no way around the vertical setup if you want to use the built-in camera. However, horizontal operation is possible. The stand can be mounted without tools, as the device is hooked into the stand. The angle of inclination can also be changed, which is essential when using the built-in camera. However, if the tilt angle is too flat, the device can quickly tip backwards.
Minisforum relies on a mix of metal and plastic for the choice of materials. The latter can be seen on the underside and on the front, which also contains a 4-inch touch display. The most important system parameters are displayed here. The current time can also be displayed as an option. However, nothing is displayed when the device is switched off. This is a pity, as a time display in off mode would certainly be a useful option. The workmanship of the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti is impeccable.
Features - Many connections that leave little to be desired
The Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti has a large number of external interfaces. In terms of USB ports, we count a total of six interfaces, two of which provide the USB4 standard. Screens can be connected either via HDMI, DisplayPort, or USB4, meaning that the test sample can handle up to four screens simultaneously. As a special feature, Minisforum has installed an OCuLink connection on the AtomMan X7 Ti, which enables a direct PCIe connection to an external graphics card. Compared to USB4, OCuLink offers a significantly higher bandwidth. We will focus on this in the rest of the test and take a look at the performance in combination with the eGPU GPD G1. We don't want to leave the SD card reader completely unmentioned. Unfortunately, it only offers USB 2.0 speed and is therefore significantly slower than the competitors in our comparison. Logging into the operating system can be done conveniently using facial recognition or a fingerprint sensor. Both options are available after a quick, uncomplicated setup.

Communication
In the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti, we see the same wireless module as in the Acemagic F2A. The Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE200 WLAN module can operate in 2.4 GHz as well as in 5 GHz and 6 GHz frequency ranges. It even supports the latest Wi-Fi standard (Wi-Fi 7). In comparison, however, our test sample can deliver significantly better results than the Acemagic model. As we use the Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000 router for our Wi-Fi tests, we are not yet able to show Wi-Fi 7 results. As soon as we update our test equipment, we will return to this test and provide the results.
Webcam
The Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti is one of the few mini-PCs that is equipped with a camera. A 1080p webcam is installed here, which also enables logging into the system (Windows Hello). However, the quality is not optimal, as image noise is quickly visible in low light. The built-in model could certainly be used as an emergency solution, and whether you want to place the mini-PC directly in front of you is a matter of taste.

Accessories
The scope of delivery includes the device as well as a 120-watt power supply unit and the stand for vertical operation. There is also an HDMI cable, a quick start guide, and a power cable.
Maintenance
Knowing that Minisforum also sells the AtomMan X7 Ti as a barebone system, dismantling it to access the RAM and SSD is a complicated process. On the one hand, the screws for removing the base plate are located under the glued-on rubber feet, and on the other hand, there are several other screws under the cover. The fan is fixed in place with a total of twelve small screws. The slots for the RAM and mass storage can only be accessed after the disassembly. Speaking of mass storage: only SSDs can be accommodated in the AtomMan X7 Ti. An 80-millimeter and a 30-millimeter SSD can be installed under the large heat sink. If you are still looking for the Wi-Fi module, you will have to dismantle the device further, as the former is located on the other side of the mainboard. Disassembly is generally possible, although we do not recommend it. Very short cable connections for the camera module and additional cables for the screen are a few points that cause a few beads of sweat during assembly.
Touchscreen
Minisforum is the first manufacturer to install a small 4-inch touch display in its AI mini-PC based on an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H. The interface is customizable and can be used to display various system information. If you prefer something simpler, it is possible to display clock (many variants of design are available). The performance of the system can be adjusted quickly and without restarting via the touch screen. The manufacturer has stored three performance profiles for this purpose, which influence the power limits of the SoC.
Performance - Intel Core Ultra 9 with 16 cores and 22 threads
The Intel Core Ultra 9 185H ensures a consistently high working speed. The iGPU has also been completely renewed with the Meteor Lake series. Based on the Arc architecture, there is now significantly more performance compared to the outdated Xe iGPUs of the previous series. In principle, the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti can therefore be used for performance-hungry applications such as photo or video editing.
Test conditions
We used the "Balanced" power profile for all performance tests with this device. In addition, all relevant tests were carried out with Performance profile. Other profiles were used only in the energy and noise measurements according to our Test criteria.
Processor
The Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H. The latest model from Intel offers 16 cores and 22 threads, which makes the model installed here identical to the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H thta is used in the Acemagic F2A. There are differences in the clock rates, as the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H achieves up to 5.1 GHz on the P cores, whereas the Intel Core Ultra 7 155H can only operate at a maximum of 4.8 GHz. However, the manufacturer can have an enormous influence on performance when it comes to the power limit: at 65 watts, the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H is significantly more limited than the competition. In the test, the SoC of the Acemagic F2A worked with a maximum of 77 watts, which means that the targeted 90 watts were not reached anyway. Minisforum directly reduced the power somewhat in order to provide stable and continuous performance.
Despite this small limitation, it is enough to place it ahead of the Acemagic F2A in the comparison overview. However, there is no way around the competitors with AMD Ryzen APU. Only in individual tests can our test sample take the lead in places. In the AIDA64 tests, all Intel-based devices perform slightly worse than their AMD counterparts. However, the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti performs best among the Intel-powered devices.
If you are not dependent on the full performance of the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H, you can change the performance using the predefined performance profiles. There are three performance modes to choose from via the 4-inch touchscreen (see table). However, you won't notice a noticeable difference in performance in everyday use. The Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti copes excellently with everyday use, even in Energy Saving Mode
.

Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti vs. Cinebench R15 multi-loop
The Cinebench R15 continuous loop does not pose a major problem for the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti. In Performance mode, the test system easily reaches the maximum power consumption of 65 watts, even though the CPU temperature does not reach 70 °C under load. Compared to the Acemagic F2A, our test device can deliver a slightly better result. Nevertheless, Minisforum has to accept the question at this point as to whether the power limitation of only 65 watts means that some performance is being wasted.
System performance
Our test sample performed quite well in the system performance tests. The Intel Core Ultra 9 185H in combination with the installed DDR5 RAM can deliver slightly more performance than its rivals. Nevertheless, the SoC can also be combined with even faster RAM (LPDDR5/x 7,467 MT/s).

NPU performance
In the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H contains a Neural Processing Unit which, as a separate part of the SoC, can calculate AI applications particularly efficiently. We take a closer look at the performance using the UL Procyon AI Interface benchmark program. Our test sample is unable to outperform its competitors here, even though the supposedly faster CPU is working in the system. The test was repeated several times with almost identical results.

Mass storage
The Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti uses the same SSD as the Minisforum EliteMini UM780 XTX. The model from Kingston uses the M.2-2280 interface and operates at PCIe 4.0x4 speed. The SSD delivers solid values in the test and offers great performance in everyday use. However, the model is not one of the fastest, which is why our test device only ranks in the midfield. We see an excellent solution when it comes to cooling: there is a large radiator on the SSD that covers both the M.2-2280 and M.2-2230 slots. This results in a stable performance under continuous load, which can't be achieved by all competitors. The Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti can be equipped with two SSDs.

Graphics - Intel Arc 8 Cores
The iGPU of the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti is now based on the Intel Arc architecture and gets noticeably more performance than an Intel Iris Xe G7 with 96 EUs. With the Intel Arc 8 Cores iGPU, the mini-PC is much more competitive and can compete with an AMD Radeon 780M. The Intel iGPU copes excellently with Affinity Photo 2. We have already observed this on several of our test devices.

Gaming performance
The gaming performance aspect of the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti should not be overestimated, as the compact computing powerhouse is not advertised as a gaming PC. Nevertheless, with the Intel Arc 8 Cores iGPU, you can run some games smoothly on the screen. However, the full detail splendor should be dispensed with. AMD's Radeon 780M delivers slightly more performance than the iGPU in our test sample in a direct comparison. This can only be remedied by using an external graphics card, which can be connected via USB4 or OCuLink.
For a detailed overview of the iGPU's performance compared to other graphics cards, please refer to our GPU game list.

The Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti with the GPD G1 in the performance check
Minisforum has installed an OCuLink interface and two USB4 ports in the AtomMan X7 Ti, which can be used in conjunction with external graphics cards. In the test, we focused on the OCuLink connection because it offers more bandwidth than USB4, which is essential for an external graphics card. The performance advantage of OCuLink over USB4 is around 10%. As a result, devices that only offer USB4 are at a slight disadvantage. Nevertheless, the 3D performance of the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti is slightly worse when the GPD G1 is connected via USB4.
In combination with the GPD G1, which is equipped with an AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT, the 3D performance can be drastically increased. Modern games can now be played smoothly at 1,440p.

Emissions - Minisforum makes a good compromise
Noise emissions
The noise emissions of the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti are very inconspicuous in idle mode. This changes under load, as we recorded a maximum noise level of 43.5 dB(A). Admittedly, we have often been spoiled by Minisforum in terms of fan noise, as can be seen from the Minisforum EliteMini UM780 XTX. Nevertheless, we can live with the noise level, as we are still a long way from an annoying source of noise here.
We also looked at the maximum volume when using the other two performance profiles. If you run the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti in Energy Saving Mode
, you can reduce the maximum noise level to 36 dB(A), although we recorded just under 39 dB(A) in Balanced Mode
.

Temperature
The Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti never has any temperature problems. The case itself always remains cool, and there are only a few increased temperature values in the area of the fan outlets, which only relate to the airflow. In the stress test, we see the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H at a maximum of 92 °C. On average, however, the processor's temperature stabilizes at 86 °C. It should be noted that the SoC operates with the defined power limit (65 watts) at all times.
(+) The maximum temperature on the upper side is 36 °C / 97 F, compared to the average of 35.8 °C / 96 F, ranging from 21.6 to 69.5 °C for the class Mini PC.
(+) The bottom heats up to a maximum of 38 °C / 100 F, compared to the average of 36.1 °C / 97 F
(+) In idle usage, the average temperature for the upper side is 24.1 °C / 75 F, compared to the device average of 32.3 °C / 90 F.
Power consumption
On the whole, the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti is economical, if we exclude the results in idle mode. Under average load, we documented 53.1 watts, and the device reached a peak value of around 100 watts. Due to the 4-inch touch display, the energy requirements in idle mode are slightly higher than those of some competitors. Nevertheless, our test device is not completely out of the ordinary here. The compact 120-watt power supply unit was already used in the same form in the Minisforum EliteMini UM780 XTX.
According to the manufacturer, the power supply unit is the reason why Minisforum only allows the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H a maximum of 65 watts. In terms of efficiency, this step is certainly understandable.

Verdict - Powerful all-rounder with Core Ultra 9 185H
The Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti is the first high-end model from the Chinese system manufacturer based on Intel's Meteor Lake processors. Equipped with the Intel Core Ultra 9 185Hб the mini-PC offers outstanding performance. However, the manufacturer limits the power consumption of the processor to just 65 watts. In terms of noise and efficiency, the move is understandable, although there is still some room for improvement when it comes to temperature.
Minisforum takes a new approach to design and installs a 4-inch touch display in the device. The purpose of this is certainly debatable, as you probably won't be playing around with it much in everyday life. The ability to switch quickly and easily between the three performance profiles is probably the best option. We would have welcomed an alternative to define the processor's performance limits ourselves. Furthermore, some system-relevant data can be displayed on the small screen. Anyone who values these little things will certainly enjoy the device. Minisforum's AtomMan X7 Ti once again demonstrates excellent build quality. Unfortunately, the device does not score well when it comes to maintenance. Many screws, which are once again hidden under glued-on rubber feet, are not user-friendly.
The Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti clearly sets itself apart from most mini-PCs. The performance is good, and an excellent selection of interfaces is a good selling point.
The performance of the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti promises a lot. In the test, we can confirm good productivity in combination with 32 GB RAM and the 1 TB SSD. However, the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti does not shine as the undisputed top model. The competition based on AMD Ryzen APUs is on par in comparison. The deciding factor in the battle for the purchase decision could therefore be the connectivity. Here, the Minisforum AtomMan X7 Ti trumps with a wide range of interfaces. Unfortunately, USB4 is still not standard and is not always offered, as can be seen in the example of the Acemagic F2A. Minisforum even installs two USB4 interfaces, and the mini-PC also has an OCuLink port. This means that the device can serve as a basis for a variety of different applications.
