AMD Radeon RX 9050 leaks with head-scratching spec sheet

2026 is shaping up to be a dry year for GPU launches, especially with Nvidia’s rumoured GeForce RTX 50 Super refresh pushed back to 2027. All we might get from Team Green is an RTX 5050 variant with 9 GB VRAM and a revival of the two-generation-old GeForce RTX 3060 (yes, seriously). Things are looking bleak on the AMD side as well. Videocardz has learned about a new upcoming RDNA 4 GPU: the Radeon RX 9050.
Based on its designation, one would assume it is a weaker version of the Radeon RX 9060. That statement is only partially true because the RX 9050 comes with 2,048 shading units, which translates to about 32 CUs—same as the Radeon RX 9060 XT. Other specs include 8 GB of 18 Gbps GDDR6 VRAM on a 128-bit bus (288 GB/s memory bandwidth), and a boost clock of 2.6 GHz.
Exactly how the RX 9050 holds up against the RX 9060 in reality remains to be seen. On paper, the latter should have an advantage due to higher clocks. The main differentiator, by the looks of it, will be TGP, and it isn’t clear exactly how much power the RX 9050 will demand, but Videocardz opines it could be lower than the RX 9060.
Overall, the above specs seem a bit out of place, and it’s best to wait until more information emerges. As for which market segment the RX 9050 targets, its name implies it is an RTX 5050 alternative. The higher memory bandwidth should give it an advantage over Nvidia’s entry-level offering, at least in raw performance. On the software front, it will come down to how well FSR holds up against DLSS.
