ViewSonic has introduced two new monitors that are part of the VP88 series. They are touted to be "Mac-optimized," offering "Mac-level" clarity and a native "Mac-to-monitor" control experience. Thanks to the latter, users can control the monitor properties from the Mac.
At the moment, there are two offerings within the VP88 series: the VP2788-5K and VP2488-4K. As the name suggests, they are 5K and 4K monitors, respectively, but the former is touted to be a better companion for Mac laptops and computers than the 27-inch Apple Studio Display.
The company highlights that the major advantages lie within Pantone Validation, Color Temperature Indicator, and dual daisy chaining support. These features, at least on paper, make the 27-inch ViewSonic VP2788-5K a better pick for professional and creative workloads.
Other than that, both the 24-inch and 27-inch VP88 series monitors have a typical brightness rating of 500 nits, 100% sRGB coverage, 5 ms rated response time, and support for 100 W PD (4-feet Silkland Thunderbolt 4 cable curr. $19.99 on Amazon). There is a rich selection of connectivity ports as well, including:
- 1x Thunderbolt 4 upstream
- 1x Thunderbolt 4 downstream
- 2x USB 3.2 Type-A downstream
- 1x USB 3.2 Type-C downstream
- 1x UBS 3.2 Type-C upstream
- 1x HDMI 2.1
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4
This versatile port configuration, according to ViewSonic, allows hybrid Mac and PC setups and can keep work setups free of clutter. The company has yet to share the prices and availability details of the two monitors, but these pieces of information should emerge soon.
