MSI has released another Gen 3 QD-OLED gaming monitor in North America. The new MAG 272QP QD-OLED X24 shares most of its specifications with the MAG 274QP QD-OLED X24 that the company released two weeks ago, but with expanded connectivity. Interestingly, MSI has priced both monitors at an aggressive $499.99, which should appeal to budget-conscious gamers considering OLED.
As expected, MSI has scaled back a few areas to hit the lower price point. The MAG 272QP QD-OLED X24 peaks at 400 nits in HDR and 200 nits in SDR, which should be fine for most setups, but other competing OLED monitors can push much higher brightness for more impactful HDR. That said, the monitor still delivers the usual OLED benefits with vibrant colors and brilliant contrast. It covers 99% of the DCI-P3 color space and carries DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification.
Like the MAG 274QP QD-OLED X24, the new model features a native 2560 x 1440 resolution paired with a 240 Hz refresh rate. MSI also lists a 0.03 ms (GtG) response time, along with ClearMR 13000 certification for reduced motion blur and improved motion clarity during fast-paced gaming. There's also a dedicated mode for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S gamers.
Where the MAG 272QP QD-OLED X24 sets itself apart is connectivity. In addition to dual HDMI 2.1 ports and a DisplayPort input, MSI adds an extra USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode and 15 W Power Delivery, making it easier to connect a work laptop and other USB-C desk peripherals. Other features include a fully adjustable stand, a three-year OLED warranty, and improved OLED care features to reduce the risk of burn-in.
In the US, the MSI MAG 272QP QD-OLED X24 is available for $499.99 through Amazon, Newegg, and the MSI online store. It's priced at CAD $799.99 in Canada, although it is currently listed for CAD $549.99 at Newegg and CAD $499.99 on Amazon.
