TP-Link has launched the Tapo C645D Kit, a solar-powered dual-lens security camera, in the US. Thanks to the lower pan-tilt camera, it can be used to survey a wide area of your property. Smart features include motion tracking, AI identification of people and vehicles, and customizable zones.

The TP-Link Tapo C645D Kit has been released in the US. This solar-powered security camera is designed for outdoor use. Plus, the dual lenses and pan/tilt functionality help you to keep an eye on a larger area of your property.

Tapo’s C645D has an upper fixed 2K lens with a 165° field of view (FOV), and a lower 2K pan/tilt telephoto lens, which can automatically track moving objects up to 360° horizontally and 120° vertically. The smart security camera can identify people, vehicles and pets, a feature which does not require a subscription. Other functions include color night vision and customizable activity or privacy zones.

The Tapo C645D can be remotely managed via the TP-Link Tapo smartphone app. Here, you can view a video livestream and receive smart notifications. Captured footage can be stored on an up to 512 GB microSD card (not included), or in the cloud with a Tapo Care subscription. It also supports two-way audio and is compatible with voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. At the top of the Tapo C645D is a solar panel, with one hour of direct sunlight powering the device for a whole day. Plus, the 10,000 mAh battery acts as a backup, providing up to 120 days of power.

You can now buy the TP-Link Tapo C645D Kit for $149.99 at the TP-Link online store, or from the brand’s Amazon storefront. It remains to be seen when this smart home product could be released in other countries like the UK, where it is said to be “coming soon”.
