The brand-new Thypoch Ksana 21mm f/3.5 full-frame lens extends just 2.7 cm from the camera and weighs just 4.6 oz or 131 grams. Due to a construction of eight elements in seven groups, including one lens with an aspherical surface and two ED elements, the lens is supposed to provide high image quality despite its rather compact dimensions.
As the manufacturer’s MTF curves show, the lens is relatively sharp across the frame even wide open, including the edges. Distortion and chromatic aberration are also said to be minimal, although the manufacturer does not provide any numbers in that regard. With nine aperture blades, the Ksena 21mm is apparently able to render sunstars at f/4.
Furthermore, the so-called "Epoch Coating 73" is intended to give photos a slight amber tint, at least as long this is not eliminated by the camera’s white balance. Either way, the lens only supports manual focus, but considering the extremely large depth of field, it should be easily usable with zone focusing. Focusing on subjects at a minimum distance of about 0.5 meters from the camera is possible as well. The housing is made entirely of aluminum.
