TP-Link has released the Tapo C465 Enhanced AI Solar Security Camera Ultra in the US. Already available in Europe, this smart home device is designed for outdoor use and is relatively easy to install thanks to its magnetic base.
The Tapo C465 is a 4K 8MP UHD security camera with a 135° field of view and 18x digital zoom. It can capture footage 24/7, with snapshots captured at your chosen interval, and there are both color night vision and black and white IR options. With this camera, TP-Link offers a subscription-free AI detection feature, which can be used to distinguish between people, pets, and vehicles. The device can be remotely managed through the Tapo app, where users can set up custom alarms, zones and alerts to suit their needs.
Tapo’s C465 smart camera has an integrated solar panel, with 50 minutes of sunlight said to enable the device to run for another 24 hours. Plus, the rechargeable 7,800 mAh battery can keep the camera running for up to 180 days on a single charge. The model supports dual-band Wi-Fi, and video recordings can be stored in the cloud with a Tapo Care subscription, or on an up to 512GB microSD card (not included). According to the product listing, it has an IP65 weatherproof rating and can operate in temperatures -40°F to 140°F (-40 and 60°C).
