Last year's TUF Gaming A14 refresh was a rather confusing one. While Asus upgraded its 14-inch laptop to Nvidia's RTX 50 laptop GPU series, the switch to a Ryzen AI 7 350 APU actually left the 2024 edition with more CPU horsepower, the costlier Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 SKUs at least (curr. $1,349 on Amazon).
This year, Asus has rectified that disparity by swapping in AMD Strix Halo APUs. Specifically, the new TUF Gaming A14 leverages the Ryzen AI Max+ 392 that Asus officially presented during CES 2026, too. Equipped with 12 Zen 5 cores and 24 threads, the Ryzen AI Max+ 392 matches the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with a Radeon 8060S iGPU.
The new APU will operate at up to 85 W when Turbo mode is activated, which will quickly eat through the TUF Gaming A14's 73 Wh battery. A second M.2 slot returns too, as does 32 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. Moreover, Asus continues to equip the TUF Gaming A14 with a 2.5K and 165 Hz IPS display that combines 100% sRGB colour space coverage with 400 nits peak brightness.
Additionally, the new TUF Gaming A14 finds itself with Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, USB4, and a full-sized HDMI 2.1 (FRL) port among other I/O, all within a housing that weighs 1.48 kg. Asus claims to have optimised airflow this time around as well, although how successful that proves to be remains unclear at this stage. While Asus also mentions 1.7 mm key travel and a 16:10 glass touchpad, there is no indication that speaker quality has improved in this generation.
