Minisforum has introduced several new devices recently, with the EOP4A OCuLink adapter and DEG2 eGPU dock (curr. $254.99 on Amazon) being released about a month ago. Additionally, the company has also unveiled new versions of the AI X1 Pro and the MS-02 Ultra, as well as the EliteMini M2 Pro and two new N5 series network storage solutions (NAS).
Alongside all these recent releases, Minisforum has confirmed that it has a new Mini-ITX motherboard on the way too. For context, the company only started selling the BD895i SE in December with the Ryzen 9 8945HX APU from AMD's Dragon Range Refresh series. Nonetheless, it is already developing a Strix Halo-wielding alternative called the BD895i Max.
Currently, Minisforum only mentions the Ryzen AI Max+ 395, a 16 Zen 5 core variant with 32 threads, a 55 W TDP and a Radeon 8060S iGPU. We would not be surprised if the company made cheaper APUs available too. Regardless of APU, the 170 x 170 mm Mini-ITX motherboard also contains 10 Gbps Ethernet, twin USB4 ports and a trio of 3.5 mm jacks for mic in, line in and line out.
Also, the BD895i Max features soldered LPDDR5X RAM, with 128 GB as a likely maximum. Moreover, Minisforum's prototypes show a PCIe x16 slot. However, with the AMD Strix Halo being limited to 16 PCIe lanes and Minisforum including twin M.2 SSD slots, we suspect that this PCIe slot will only reach PCIe x4. Minisforum hopes to begin selling the BD895i Max under its DeskMini series during the middle of the year.
