Minisforum has formally introduced a new MoDT motherboard, the BD895i SE. It features the AMD Ryzen 9 8945HX, a capable CPU from the Dragon Range Refresh with 16 Zen 4 cores. It can be paired with up to 96 GB of DDR5 RAM running at 5,600 MHz through the two slots.
As for storage, the board has two M.2 slots that can hold up to a 2 TB PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD each (2 TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD curr. $209.99 on Amazon). The MoDT motherboard also features support for a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for a discrete graphics card. While the BD895i SE is small in size, there are a decent number of ports on the rear, including:
- 1x HDMI 2.1
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4
- 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C with DP Alt
- 2x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A
- 3x audio I/O jacks
In addition to these, there is a USB 3.2 Gen 1 header on the motherboard. Minisforum further highlights the bundled CPU heat sink of the motherboard, which, however, doesn't come with a cooling fan. Other notable aspects of the board include support for triple display output, a small ITX form factor, and multiple fan headers.
The BD895i SE is only available in its barebone configuration, and the MoDT motherboard has a launch price of $423.90. Minisforum could soon offer another board, which is expected to bring the more capable AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D.
