Another relatively big update for the Home Assistant iOS app has arrived. The version 2026.1 release arrives around a month after the last major release, version 2025.11, which brought several CarPlay-related improvements and a new onboarding process.
With Home Assistant app version 2026.1, there are more optimizations linked to the Apple CarPlay functionality. Firstly, the entity area can now be viewed through the quick access tab. The company has also hidden diagnostic and configuration entities, and fixed a problem where users could not use the lock function as expected from the quick access tab.
To the Control Center widget, Home Assistant has added new options to open domain-specific entities in the app, as well as a new control for a fan device. The search functionality for the Entity Picker is said to have been improved, with new filters for ID, name and area. Plus, a problem where local push activation required a reboot has been resolved. On top of this, audio has been added to the Native WebRTC Player, which is currently in the early stages of development.
