The Home Assistant 2025.12 release has arrived. This update brings new experimental features, which can be found under the recently added Home Assistant Labs area. Plus, real-time energy monitoring has been added to the energy dashboard, and there is a new Philips Hue integration.

Home Assistant 2025.12 is now available. This latest version of the open-source smart home automation software is the final release of the year, and follows a month after the 2025.11 update. Its predecessor brought a new target picker tool, as well as improvements to the design of the automations editor.

With Home Assistant 2025.12 comes a new Home Assistant Labs area, found under Settings > System > Labs. Here, users can find a selection of features in beta testing, which they can preview ahead of their wider release. One such functionality is Winter mode, which will add falling snowflakes to your dashboard. Another feature in Home Assistant Labs is purpose-specific triggers and conditions. Designed to make automations more intuitive, the older, more obscure actions like “Call service” have been replaced with more natural alternatives, like “When a light turns on” or “If the climate is heating”.

Alongside this, Home Assistant 2025.12 includes improvements to the dashboard, such as the ability to set a system-level detail dashboard and to reorder the floors and areas in your home. Plus, real-time power monitoring and downstream water tracking have been added to the Energy dashboard for use with power sensors and downstream water meters.

There is also a new Philips Hue BLE integration, which enables users to control Philips Hue Bluetooth lights, like the A19 LED smart bulb (curr. from $52.51 at Amazon), directly from Home Assistant. This removes the need for a Hue Bridge. Other new integrations include Google Air Quality, Google Weather and Airobot smart thermostats. You can find the complete release notes for Home Assistant 2025.12 on the company’s blog.
