Philips Hue users who own a Hue Bridge Pro will get a new feature this spring, Hue SpatialAware, that is designed to intelligently create certain scenes optimally. SpatialAware can take the position of individual lamps into account to ensure that the lighting looks as intended.
This should make a particular difference in scenes inspired by nature, such as simulating a sunset where red tones should only be visible from one direction and in the lower half of the room, while the rest of the room should be bathed in sky blue. For this to work, the room must first be scanned with a smartphone camera; the camera automatically recognizes which lamp or light source is located in which position in the room.
This position is saved and can then be used for all scenes that support Philips Hue SpatialAware. According to Signify, this will apply to about half of the scenes included in the app when it launches in the spring. Along with SpatialAware, Signify has announced several other updates for the Hue system, including the ability to migrate multiple Hue Bridges to a Hue Bridge Pro; this works even after the initial setup as long as the capacity of the Hue Bridge Pro is not exceeded.
Philips Hue Secure will receive support for Apple Home in the first quarter of 2026, i.e., by the end of March, so that Hue Secure cameras, the video doorbell and contact sensors can be integrated into Apple's smart home app. Also in the first quarter, automatons will be displayed directly in the respective rooms in the future.
