The latest version of Home Assistant, the 2026.1 release for the open-source smart home automation software, is now available. It arrives around a month after the 2025.12 update, which added the Home Assistant Labs area and a new Philips Hue BLE integration.
Home Assistant 2026.1 focuses on improvements for the Home dashboard. There is a new, streamlined mobile experience, removing the need to use tabs to navigate. Summary cards are now shown at the top of the screen, with sections for favourites and areas below. The company has also added a new Devices page, where users can view a list of products which are not currently assigned to an area.
On top of this, Home Assistant has continued to work on its purpose-specific triggers and conditions, with a greater number of triggers now available. These include Button, Climate, Humidifier and Light specific triggers. As a reminder, this feature is currently being tested through the Home Assistant Labs section. Plus, the Settings page has been reconfigured, giving a higher priority to the protocol dashboards section.
As usual, Home Assistant 2026.1 comes with new integrations. These include the ability to add HomeLink devices like v5 Wireless Garage Door Opener (three color kit curr $149.99 at Amazon Marketplace), Airpatrol WiFi devices, and eGauge energy monitors to your set-up. There are also improvements for existing integrations, such as FRITZ!Box Smart Home, with new switch entities enabling users to directly control routines through Home Assistant. You can find the complete change log on the company’s blog.
