Leaker billbil-kun has shed new light on the WF-1000XM6 after detailing initial pricing information last week. To recap, the WF-1000XM5 (curr. $328 on Amazon) is now over 18 months old after debuting in July 2023. Meanwhile, the WH-1000XM6 debuted less than a year ago. Thus, Sony is unlikely to refresh the WH-1000X line in 2026.
According to billbil-kun, Sony has now settled on a release schedule for the WF-1000XM6 following indications that its new earbuds would be ready by late February. Reportedly, Sony plans to open pre-orders on February 12 globally with initial shipments set for February 23. If these dates occur, then we would expect Sony to begin teasing a new release by around February 5.
Not only that, but the same leaker has obtained US pricing information, too. In short, earlier suggestions of cheaper pricing will not extend to the US. Instead, billbil-kun reports that the WF-1000XM6 will retail for $329.99 in the US, a $30 and 10% increase over the WF-1000XM5's original MSRP. While the design of the WF-1000XM6 remains unknown at this point, Sony is expected to launch its new high-end earbuds in a choice of just black and silver colour options.
