Sony’s next flagship noise‑cancelling earbuds have been leaking in slow motion for months. Now, a new report finally puts a European price tag on the long‑rumored follow-up to the WF-1000XM5 earbuds (curr. $228 on Amazon).
According to French outlet Dealabs, the WF‑1000XM6 will launch in Europe in two colours, black and silver, at 299.99 euros. That is lower than the WF‑1000XM5’s original 319.99‑euro launch price. The site does mention that specs and an exact release date are still unknown, but points to a target window in the first quarter of 2026. There's also some speculation that an announcement could land around CES 2026 in Las Vegas.
This pricing leak comes after months of scattered hints. The Walkman Blog first spotted model number YY2985 buried in Sony’s Sound Connect app in May 2025, which linked it to the WF‑1000XM6 branding before the earbuds started passing through regulators in multiple countries. More recently, replacement‑parts retailer Encompass briefly listed WF‑1000XM6 components in black and silver, which adds more weight to the aforementioned leak, and ties them again to the YY2985 identifier, with a provisional 27 February 2026 ship date (which is most likely a placeholder).
We also covered past claims that Sony will move to a MediaTek MT2855‑based platform with integrated AI and add DSEE Ultimate upscaling to its true wireless line for the first time, though any battery‑life impact is unclear. If these past leaks hold any weight, an official confirmation from Sony should be right around the corner.
