Philips Hue app gets new compact view in latest update
Philips Hue is rolling out a fresh update for its app with version 5.17.0. This latest release follows version 5.16.0, which arrived at the start of May, bringing features for cameras in the Security Center and an improved Room or Zone editing experience.
Version 5.17.0 has optimizations for users with a large number of Rooms and Zones. You can now customize the size of these cards, allowing you to view more of them on your screen. According to the release notes, this setting can be accessed from the Home tab > (…) icon > Edit Home > Cards. However, some users have reported that they cannot access this feature despite installing the new software. It is unclear how widespread this issue is or what is causing it.
The app change log also notes that, from this compact view, the brightness of a Room or Zone can be altered by holding the card and dragging up or down. Earlier this month, it was reported that the Glisten and Opal lighting effects, first seen with the Philips Hue Festavia string lights, were rolling out to more smart lighting products. Interestingly, this feature is omitted from the change log for app version 5.17.0. You can download the Philips Hue app's latest iOS and Android variants via the relevant app stores.
