Apple announces date for WWDC 2024, the launch event for iOS 18, macOS 15, visionOS 2 and the like
In a press release, Apple has officially confirmed that this year's World Wide Developers Conference will take place from June 10 to 14. The event will include numerous developer sessions that will be broadcast free of charge online. The opening conference will be of particular interest to consumers, as it will also be broadcast live online.
As in previous years, this is likely to be a pre-recorded presentation that can also be viewed live by invited viewers at Apple Park in Cupertino. According to rumors in recent months, iOS 18 will be the highlight of WWDC 2024, as it is said to be the biggest operating system update for the Apple iPhone in years.
The update is expected to give users more freedom in designing the home screen and introduce a range of AI features, including a new version of Siri based on a Large Language Model, automatic playlist creation in Apple Music, AI functions in Pages, Numbers and Keynote, and an improved Spotlight search that can perform more complex tasks.
Apple is also expected to announce iPadOS 18, visionOS 2, watchOS 11, macOS 15 and tvOS 18, although the updates for the Apple Watch and Apple TV 4K are expected to be significantly less ambitious than iOS 18. Apple also occasionally uses this event to announce new hardware, and the timing this year may well see the announcement of fourth-generation AirPods and the AirPods Max with a USB-C port.
