Xiaomi Mijia Air Purifier 5S is designed to remove not only fine dust, but also TVOCs and formaldehyde
Xiaomi is offering a new air purifier in China. The Mijia Air Purifier 5S can be pre-ordered starting tomorrow for approximately 208 euros. There is currently no information on a possible global launch, but this is not unlikely. Several of the manufacturer's air filters are also available on Amazon.
The term "air purifier" applies to the Mijia Air Purifier 5S as a generic term, but basically does not adequately describe its functionality. Active sterilization is also used with the help of UV lighting, which is intended to reduce the concentration of potentially pathogenic germs in addition to filtering.
Moreover, 98.1% of so-called TVOCs are also to be removed. This term covers volatile organic substances such as 2,4,6-trichloroanisole - this smells musty, but indoor plants can also emit organic volatile substances. The same applies to furniture and plastics. The Mijia Air Purifier 5S is also said to be able to remove 96.95% of formaldehyde within one hour, and the air volume to be purified is specified as 255 m³ in one hour. A formaldehyde sensor should be able to document the cleaning success.
Pollen and fine dust particles (PM10) are said to be removed by 99.98% and 98% respectively. The air purifier can be controlled via the Mijia app, and the device emits less than 31 dB of noise during operation.
