Garmin is rolling out a new public update, version 17.24, to the Forerunner 955 series smartwatches. The latest software follows various rounds of Beta testing, which took place in November, with the previous stable update shared in September. A version of the software is also being rolled out to the Forerunner 255, Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 965 smartwatches.
The Forerunner 955 version of update 17.24 adds Up Ahead voice prompts when navigating a course with course points. Plus, Garmin has added a setting which allows you to view the weather at multiple locations. Like with the Forerunner 255, you can now view images included in phone notifications, though this is only available for Android; it is still being determined when iOS device users will be able to use this feature. Daily Summary, Stress Alerts, and Rest Alerts settings have been added to the Body Battery menu, as discovered by Fenix 7 and Forerunner 265 users earlier this year.
Also included in the new software is the Nap glance, extra functionality for Body Battery and a large font mode. Additional inline skating, racket and team sports activities are now provided. Plus, improvements have been made to course navigation and the UI. Garmin notes this is a phased rollout but has not offered progress updates since the initial announcement.
