The Garmin HRM-Fit heart rate monitor has appeared again. Rumors about the new model started earlier this year when a product with the name was spotted in the SIRIM database in Malaysia. Now, a page on the Garmin website in Spain listing device repair costs has mentioned the device alongside the upcoming Lily 2 smartwatches.
It remains to be seen how the new model will differ from the existing Garmin heart rate monitors, including the HRM-Dual, HRM-Pro, HRM-Pro Plus and HRM-Swim. These gadgets are all chest straps, leading some to speculate that the new model could be wrist-based to broaden the range. An alternative theory surrounds documentation for a US patent application from Garmin for a chest-based device with an unusual design. It appears that the new monitor could attach to your clothing without the traditional wrap-around band. The design aims to be more comfortable to wear and reduce interference with apparel. However, there is no evidence linking the HRM-Fit to this patent.
The pricing of the Garmin HRM-Fit is also yet to be confirmed. The repair cost on the brand’s website is listed as around €76, which is similar to the cost of repairs for the HRM-Pro Plus. This could indicate that the new model will be close in price to the older models, which retail for €129.99/$129.99. The Garmin HRM-Fit heart rate monitor is expected to launch in Q1 2024 at the earliest.
