Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches receive new features with Wear OS 3.5
The Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch is now receiving Wear OS 3.5; eligible models include the standard, Wellness Edition, Skagen Falster, and Diesel Griffed. The update began rolling out to the wearable several days ago, though several users quickly reported issues with the installation. Fossil swiftly investigated and resolved the problem, and the update is now underway again.
Wear OS 3.5 is supposed to enhance battery life, though the percentage increase in runtime has not been provided. However, while some users have confirmed better battery life, others have reported that the battery runs shorter than before. The Fossil Gen 6 now runs up to 30% faster for a polished experience, and users can access a wider variety of third-party apps. Changes have been made to the Fossil Gen 6’s interface, such as the Tile layout for the home screen, a shortcut for Google Home, and gesture controls to optimize navigation.
After the acquisition by Google, Fitbit features are now available for the Fossil smartwatch for improved health and wellness tracking. Plus, changes have been made to the integration of Google services, with Google Assistant available on the watch. For context, Wear OS 3.5 launched in October 2022, with the latest version, Wear OS 4, debuting on the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 earlier this year.
