Samsung Galaxy Watch7, Galaxy Watch7 Classic and Galaxy Watch7 Pro all rumoured to be launching this year
Samsung has been pursuing an unusual smartwatch release strategy of late. Since switching from Tizen to Wear OS, the company has only launched Galaxy Watch Active2 successors annually, which it sells in two sizes. By contrast, the Galaxy Watch3 lives on in the Galaxy Watch4 Classic and Galaxy Watch6 Classic, which arrived two years apart. Additionally, Samsung continues to sell the Galaxy Watch5 Pro, a smaller option than the largest Galaxy Watch6 Classic (curr. $329.99 on Amazon) but one that also has a significantly larger battery capacity.
As a result, Samsung lists three smartwatch series on its website, 'Galaxy Watch', 'Galaxy Watch Classic' and 'Galaxy Watch Pro'. Reportedly, Samsung has decided to offer three variants this year under the banner of the Galaxy Watch7 series. As far as we can tell, this would flesh out the company's existing product categories, with SamMobile reporting that 'Classic' and 'Pro' models are being developed simultaneously.
Allegedly, the Galaxy Watch7, Galaxy Watch7 Classic and Galaxy Watch7 Pro will all be powered by a chipset codenamed Exynos S5E5535 that will be just 30% faster than the Exynos W930 that powers the Galaxy Watch6 series. Moreover, the chipset is rumoured to deliver this performance uplift while reducing power consumption by 50%, likely through the adoption of a 3 nm manufacturing process. Unfortunately, there is no indication yet that any of these new smartwatches will sport Samsung's rumoured 'squircle' redesign.
