The iQOO Z9 Turbo is currently the flagship of its Android smartphone series - but not for much longer, according to a new leak. Its allegedly upcoming Plus variant is tipped to launch with a more performance-focused chipset - from a different manufacturer, moreover - to go with other high-end specs such as a 144Hz AMOLED display and a 6,000mAh battery.

iQOO used the Turbo suffix for the first time in 2024 with the Z9 series, and apparently likes it so well that the OEM has a Turbo Plus (or Turbo+) on the way.

According to prolific leaker Digital Chat Station, it might be slightly more worthy of the product name with the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ SoC in place of the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.

The refreshed flagship processor is believed to drive a display identical to that of the original Z9 Turbo - however, as it is a 6.78-inch 144Hz AMOLED display with a 4,500 nit peak brightness rating, that spec might attract limited pushback.

Similarly, the Turbo+ is also slated to stay ahead of the premium curve with a 6,000mAh battery, albeit one that charges at up to 80W. However, should the V2417A spotted on the 3C database truly be the next Z9-series flagship, it has been approved for use with a 90W power brick that may or may not come in the box.

In terms of looks, it would probably debut with the same esthetics as the pre-existing Turbo, inherited in turn from the current iQOO 12 flagship series.

Check the Z9 Turbo out for as little as $277 (~305) on TradingShenzhen.com.
