Qualcomm is set to release two new powerful chipsets soon. As previously reported, the American chipmaker has been working on the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, with both SoCs rumored to feature on a slew of upcoming devices. While the two chipsets appear identical, a new leak now purports to detail the differences between them.
As revealed by a graphic floating on the grapevine, it appears the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 will deliver similar performance, at least on the CPU end. Supposedly, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 will feature a Cortex-X4 core clocked at 2.9 GHz, while the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 will have that same core at 3.01 GHz. Both chipsets have Cortex-A720 at similar frequencies as well—2.6 GHz for the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, and 2.61 GHz for the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.
Interestingly, though, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 appears to have its Cortex-A520 cores running at 1.9 GHz, higher than the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3's 1.84 GHz. It's important to note that the listed clock speeds for the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 are all consistent with a prior leak.
In any case, considering the leaked frequencies, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 will likely be a tad more efficient for daily use, while delivering slightly better peak performance. On the GPU end, the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 is listed with an Adreno 732, versus the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3's Adreno 735. Evidently, the latter will have a better GPU, albeit not by much.
