Reviews for the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4
The Mix Fold 4 has an OLED panel almost 8 inches in size, but it is barely any heavier and thicker than a normal high-end phone. The Xiaomi phone, equipped with Leica cameras, doesn't have to hide from a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. But did the Mix Fold fully impress us in our test?

Overall, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is a pretty solid phone. Its battery performance in particular was noteworthy, but the slim design is particularly nice. The crease in the center of the foldable display may be very obvious, but the foldable screen is such a delight to use that I started defaulting to the larger display without even realizing it. And you get to enjoy the satisfying snap of opening and closing the phone while you do. The cameras were disappointing, but not to the point that I’d actively recommend against them. Just remember that there are better options out there, even among foldable phones — especially if you plan on taking a lot of selfies.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is a fantastic foldable phone, and it brings some much-needed improvements over its predecessor, Fold 3. The changes and upgrades aren’t too drastic, but they are just enough to make the foldable experience a whole lot better. It is now lighter and slimmer while also having a bigger battery. The new improvements, along with a better chipset and camera system, make the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 a fantastic foldable phone. If you want the best display, processor, camera, battery life, better user experience, and most importantly, a reasonable price tag, then the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is the one to go for. The only con we could see is the missing protection against dust, which is not a deal breaker but would have been nice to have.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is the latest foldable phone to hit the market and it brings perhaps the new best foldable hardware around. How does it compare against the Honor Magic V3 and Vivo X Fold 3 Pro? I put it to the test after 24 hours of use.

Xiaomi just took the wrapping off of the Mix Flip and Mix Fold 4. The two new foldables are full of innovation and every bit the true flagships, running on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. These are the company's slimmest and lightest foldables to date, with surprisingly powerful hardware on the inside, including big batteries and capable camera setups. Here are some quick specs rundowns for both devices to start off.

It is undeniable to say that Xiaomi has made a strong impression in the foldable phone market with its latest release, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4. Launched in July, this flagship device combines an elegant design, impressive battery life, and solid performance, making it a competitive addition to the foldable space. However, certain shortcomings, particularly in camera quality, might deter some potential users though In terms of its display and design, the Mix Fold 4 features a sleek, lightweight design, measuring just 9.5mm thick when folded. Its 6.56-inch external LTPO AMOLED cover display with a 21:9 aspect ratio supports HDR10, Dolby Vision, and an adaptive refresh rate of 1-120Hz. The 7.98-inch internal foldable display offers a similar adaptive refresh rate, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, ensuring vibrant visuals. While the design provides a satisfying folding mechanism, the visible crease in the foldable display is noticeable and may disrupt touch gestures. Additionally, the matte backplate resists fingerprints, though the glossy cover display does not. Equipped with a 5,100 mAh split battery, this model utilizes innovative “three-dimensional stacking” to optimize capacity. In real-world testing, the battery outperformed competitors like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Honor Magic V3, losing only 14% after three hours of video playback at 50% brightness. The 67W fast charging system, included in the box, recharges the device to 59% in 30 minutes, while 50W wireless charging is also supported.
Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset as its processor, the Mix Fold 4 delivers top-tier performance. Overall gaming performance is smooth, with no overheating, thanks to Xiaomi’s advanced cooling system. However, video transcoding performance lagged slightly behind competitors, with the device taking 50 seconds to convert a 4K video to 1080p. As far as its camera setup is concerned, this device boasts a versatile camera setup which includes a 50MP main lens, a 50MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, a 12MP ultrawide lens, and a 10MP periscope lens offering 5x optical zoom. Despite Leica optics in the primary lenses, camera quality was inconsistent. Photos often appeared overly vivid, and ultrawide and telephoto shots lacked detail compared to competitors like the Pixel 9 Pro. Selfie cameras were especially underwhelming, producing washed-out images with excessive beautification. In a nutshell, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 definitely excels in design, battery life, and performance, making it a strong contender in the foldable market. While its cameras leave room for improvement, the device is well-suited for users prioritizing display quality and extended battery performance. International availability and pricing will ultimately determine its global success, as will improvements to software features like AI tools. For those seeking a refined foldable experience, the Mix Fold 4 is worth considering.
