Reviews for the Nubia RedMagic 10 Air

The RedMagic 10 Air is stellar, and I would recommend it to anyone who really likes mobile gaming. It’s not the best at taking pictures, and it’s pretty thick, but otherwise, it’s a solid phone that runs very smoothly, with a cool design and great battery life. It’s also $729 outright, which is incredibly affordable in a country where flagships are usually more than $1,200. The one caveat we need to add to the end of this review is that it remains unclear if this phone will support voice calls on Rogers’ network due to the ongoing 3G shutdown.

If you're looking for a new Android phone and want one that's equal parts aesthetics and performance, you could do a lot worse than the Redmagic 10 Air. This phone is sleek and powerful and could easily replace whatever phone you currently use without a hiccup. The price is right, and the phone is powerful and elegant. What's not to love?

Following the recent release of the REDMAGIC 10 Air Gaming phone, which I recently reviewed for Coolsmartphone, we have another tablet from REDMAGIC.

I came into this review wanting to know a few things about the REDMAGIC 10 Air. I will repeat that question again here. The question is, does this quest for a slim phone negate the benefits of having a slightly chunkier device with the integrated cooling that REDMAGIC are renowned for.It is now time to answer that question, for your average phone user the answer is no the slimming of the device does not create a negative experience of the REDMAGIC experience. This phone will do everything you could need or want it to do with the possible exception of high quality zoomed photography. Yes it misses out on some features like wireless charging and display out capability but this phone is not designed for that. The phone is designed for the everyday user who might be put off by the more full-on REDMAGIC 10S Pro series.

The RedMagic 10 Air is aimed at gamers and hits the mark with a large screen, fast performance, excellent battery life, and gaming-geared software. While it falls a bit short of the RedMagic 10 Pro in terms of raw performance, it's both lighter and more affordable, making it a good choice for mobile gamers on a budget. That said, if you want a more well-rounded phone that still plays games well, the Pixel 9a costs less and offers far better cameras, advanced AI tools, and seven years of support from Google, making it our Editors' Choice winner in this price range.

Taking some of the weight out of playing games is a welcome advance, but the lack of a few hardware features from the Redmagic 10 Air make this feel like something more for enthusiasts rather than hardcore gamers.

It’s time to unbox another phone, this time the Slimline gaming powerhouse from REDMAGIC. I am pleased to introduce the REDMAGIC 10 Air, one of the thinnest gaming-focused phones on the market.

The Redmagic 10 Air is not meant for hardcore gamers. It’s not meant for professionals on the go or camera jocks. And because it costs more than the Redmagic 10 Pro, at least at launch, I don’t believe it’s meant for the budget-conscious market, either. Instead, I think I found the perfect customer for this device: older kids. Think about it. It comes with everything a teen or tween needs. Google’s software suite is built right in. It handles gaming wonderfully. The cameras are good enough for the crazy way kids take pictures, and the speakers are perfect for YouTube. Best of all, it fits in slightly smaller hands. Plus, it won’t break the bank for those working part-time (or their parents).

The Nubia Red Magic 10 Air is a smart repurposing job that takes last year's Pro gaming phone and repackages it into a leaner, more appealing, and more affordable body. The result is one of the most accessible and inviting gaming phones on the market in 2025.

The RedMagic 10 Air doesn’t quite offer the same uncompromising gaming experience as its Pro sibling, however, it will likely be the more appealing choice for a lot of people. It’s significantly lighter, it has a proper IP rating, so taking it out in the rain is less risky, and it offers exceptional value for money. It still runs games at an extremely high level and offers a top-notch audio-visual experience to match. If you’re looking for top performance, and your budget can’t stretch beyond the £450/$550 mark, it’s hard to think of a more capable phone. The closest is likely the Poco F7 Pro, which also utilises the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, but that’ll set you back an additional £60. It has a higher IP rating (IP68) and slightly faster charging, but beyond that, the phones are quite comparable.

The RedMagic 10 Air delivers a premium build and looks, a nice display with an under-display selfie camera, ample performance, solid battery life and fast charging, a whole load of powerful custom gaming features, and even what we consider to be a decent camera experience for a gaming phone. All the while, the price has been slashed significantly, making for a pretty great value proposition. Sure, compared to the RedMagic 10 Pro, there are a few things missing, such as the internal fan, the 3.5mm audio jack, and the DisplayPort video output. The battery is also smaller, and the screen doesn't get as bright. And you only get last year's flagship silicon, and it only gets an IP54 ingress resistance rating. None of these is essential to the user experience, so we'd say RedMagic has done a great job of creating this slimmed-down entry in its portfolio of gaming phones.

Compared with the Pro, this more portable smartphone has made some sacrifices. For one, the Snapdragon 8 Elite has been ripped out and replaced with the older 8 Gen 3. This is still beefy enough for the Red Magic 10 Air to run Wuthering Waves on maxed out graphics, with a perfect frame rate. However, this gaming smartphone does get rather hot, especially as there's no fan stuffed inside. Likewise, the battery has a slightly reduced capacity at 6000mAh. Not to be sniffed at, but the Red Magic 10 Air can only play Wuthering Waves for under four hours before it needs a recharge.

The RedMagic 10 AIR strikes a balance between sleek design (7.85mm thickness, minimalist aesthetics) and uncompromised gaming performance. Its stealthy appearance belies robust internals, making it an appealing choice for style-conscious young gamers seeking both form and function.

Qualcomm Adreno 750: Graphics chip for smartphones and tablets that is integrated within the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. Qualcomm claims that it is 25% faster than the Adreno 7340 in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and first benchmarks show that the GPU can beat the Apple A17 Pro iGPU.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

SD 8 Gen 3: High-end SoC for smartphones that was introduced in late 2022 with a fast prime core based on a ARM Cortex-X3 architecture clocked at up to 3.2 GHz. Two more performance cores are based on the A715 and also support only 64 bit applications. The two additional A710 cores support also 32 bit applications as do the power saving Cortex-A510 cores. In addition to the processor cores, the SoC integrates a WiFi 7 modem, a Hexagon DSP (for AI acceleration) and a Spectra ISP. The integrated memory controller supports fast LPDDR5x memory with up to 4,200 MHz. 5G is included in the chip with the Snapdragon X70 modem.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.
