Google is a way off officially announcing new Pixel hardware, having set August 13 as the date for its next 'Made by Google' event. Nonetheless, countless sources have shared details about the company's release plans, whether that be via leaked specifications or hands-on imagery. In response, Google has previewed some of its forthcoming devices, including a successor to last year's Pixel Fold called the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Additionally, it revealed the Pixel 9 Pro, which it has highlighted again in a subsequent YouTube Short titled '22 reasons you should say goodbye to your phone and hello to Pixel 9 Pro with Gemini'. Spanning a mere eight seconds, the video does not reveal any new physical details about the Pixel 9 Pro, which is not actually a direct successor to the Pixel 8 Pro (curr. $745.99 on Amazon). Instead, the Pixel 9 Pro should be considered more of an iPhone 15 Pro alternative, with the Pixel 9 Pro XL acting as a Pixel 8 Pro follow-up.
Based on recent leaks, the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL will feature the same camera hardware. Additionally, Google is slated to equip all Pixel 9 series device with a new Tensor G4 chipset, which will provide access to Gemini Advanced, among other AI-based technologies. According to Google, the following are day-to-day problems that may make one consider switching to a Pixel 9 Pro. Please note that these are not necessarily features exclusive to the Pixel 9 series, let alone the Pixel 9 Pro:
