Google Pixel 9 series confirmed to get 7 years of software updates
Last year, Google upped the ante by offering seven years of software support for the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. Five of those would be major Android versions and the rest would be monthly security patches. Its successors, the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel Pro XL and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, are expected to follow suit, but with one catch.

A new leak by Android Headlines and OnLeaks states the Pixel 9 series will get seven years worth of Pixel Feature drops. This is an important distinction as it doesn't specify the number of major Android updates or security patches. Pixel Feature Drops are deployed once every three months, so the Pixel 9 series will get a whopping 28 of them, which is nothing short of impressive.
Leaked promotional material, also shows off how Google's “Add Me” feature works. It was initially listed as a Google AI feature and it works by superimposing two photos with different people to create one large group photo. A cursory glance at the fine print suggests this feature will be available only in some photo modes. Whether or not it will be exclusive to the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL remains to be seen.
Lastly, we also get to see another Google AI feature, Pixel Screenshots, in action. It lets you search your screenshots via text prompts and aims to return images pertinent to your query. This feature is disabled by default and requires your to opt in. Plus, Google promises all the screenshots are encrypted and stored on-device.
