Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL revealed in new images with looks at internal hardware
The NCC in South Korea has published a slew of images relating to the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro, three of Google's four reported Pixel 9 series smartphones. For context, the fourth option is currently billed as the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, leaked specifications for which we have covered separately.
As for Google's candy bar options, it seems that Google will distinguish them in various areas, albeit not in terms of design. On the one hand, the Pixel 9 misses out on ultra wideband (UWB) connectivity, just as its predecessor did. With that being said, Google has certified the trio for Thread, a smart home protocol.
On the other hand, the larger Pixel 9 Pro XL contains not only a larger battery than the Pixel 9 or Pixel 9 Pro, but also the hardware for supplying faster wired charging. Still, this would see Google's premier smartphone peaking at roughly 35 W, which is a farcry from peers like the Edge 50 Ultra, OnePlus 12 or even the Galaxy S24 Ultra (curr. $974.99 on Amazon). Nonetheless, it appears that Google has created a new 45 W wired power supply, which it will likely sell separately. For reference, the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL are expected to offer the following battery capacities and approximate wired charging wattages:
- Pixel 9 - 4,558 mAh / 24.12 W
- Pixel 9 Pro - 4,558 mAh / 25.20 W
- Pixel 9 Pro XL - 4,942 mAh / 32.67 W
