A slew of new details about Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro smartphones have emerged online before Google's next 'Made by Google' launch event. Not only have the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL been showcased in new videos, but camera specifications for all three smartphones have also leaked online. Reportedly, the trio's new AI features could cost eventually cost $240, though.

Google Pixel 9 series leaks are coming thick and fast. No sooner have videos showing multiple models leaked online than Kamila Wojciechowska delivered camera specifications for the same devices. Ultimately, the former only emphasises earlier leaks in which the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL have been pictured.

Nonetheless, the videos show that Google intends to persist with its dual-texture finishes across its flagship smartphone series. On the one hand, the larger Pixel 9 Pro XL has a matte glass back and glossy sides, just like the current Pixel 8 Pro (curr. $809 - 256 GB on Amazon). On the other hand, the Pixel 9 adopts a glossy back panel but matte sides. In other words, Google continues to mirror Apple's design decisions in this regard before the release of last year's iPhone 15 series.

The same TikTok account has also posted a video showcasing some of the Pixel 9 Pro XL's camera features, which we have also embedded below. Seemingly, the device will only match its predecessor by offering up to 30x digital zoom. Based on Wojciechowska's recent leak, this similarity may be because the Pixel 9 Pro XL uses the same Samsung ISOCELL GNK sensor as the Pixel 8 Pro, which outputs at 50 MP with a 1/1.31-inch optical format. Conversely, Google is said to have equipped the former with Sony IMX858 (1/2.51-inch) sensors for its telephoto, ultra-wide-angle and front-facing cameras.

Currently, this trio of 50 MP sensors are also expected to join the ISOCELL GNK in the smaller Pixel 9 Pro. It is a similar story for the entry-level Pixel 9, too. Allegedly, Google plans to use the IMX858 as the Pixel 9's ultra-wide-angle camera, harmonising its candybar flagships in a way that it did not with last year's Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. By contrast, the Pixel 9 is anticipated to retain the 10.5 MP front-facing camera upon which the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro also relied. Incidentally, similar details relating to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold have leaked online too, which we have covered separately.

In short, Google's flagship candybar smartphones will continue to feature different camera hardware. However, 9to5Google has found evidence within the code of a new beta Google app that the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL will all support Gemini Advanced. Added to that, Google will bundle a free Gemini Advanced subscription with all Pixel 9 series orders. Unfortunately, while Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL orders will be eligible for a 12-month free subscription, Google will restrict Pixel 9 orders to a 6-month trial instead, after which the service will cost $240 annually.
